The Role of Hydrogen-Oxygen

Oxygen is an essential substance for sustaining human life.Humans transport oxygen to cells through respiration, where it participates in the body's most crucial energy metabolism processes. This process cannot be interrupted,so human survival is inseparable from oxygen.

The role of hydrogen has been gradually discovered by scientists over the past century.Initially,in the field of diving medicine,Swedish researchers such as Arne Zetterstrom used a"hydrogen-oxygen mixed inhalation"protocol to replace"helium-oxygen mixed inhalation"for diving applications, and no adverse reactions were observed. In the following years, numerous international research papers on hydrogen gradually revealed its mechanisms of action on the human body. After 2011,with Asclepius Meditec's large-scale basic and clinical experiments on hydrogen-oxygen medicine conducted globally, research achievements in hydrogen-oxygen medicine experienced an"explosive growth,"drawing worldwide attention to this innovative gas therapy.[1]

The combination of hydrogen and oxygen is adopted for two main reasons:on one hand, inhaling pure hydrogen may cause hypoxia in patients;on the other hand, hydrogen's oxygen-carrying effect can deliver oxygen more rapidly to cells for energy metabolism, making it more beneficial for elderly patients with chronic diseases.Additionally,in many disease studies, scientists have discovered that hydrogen exhibits a"dose-effect"characteristic,requiring high-volume inhalation to achieve qualitative changes and genuinely improve health.Therefore,high-flow,high-concentration hydrogen-oxygen inhalation has been identified as the optimal method for utilizing hydrogen in humans.

The Human Body Needs Hydrogen and Oxygen

Aging is a gradual process;as age increases, various bodily functions gradually decline, ultimately leading to the death of the organism.Through extensive experimental research, the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects of hydrogen and oxygen have been confirmed and are utilized by medical institutions and scientific teams both domestically and internationally for oxidative stress and aging-related chronic diseases. This includes common age-related conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia,Alzheimer's disease(commonly known as"senile dementia"),Parkinson's disease, cancer, osteoporosis,as well as various respiratory diseases like COPD and asthma.

Research has found that some human gut microbiota can naturally produce hydrogen.Supplementing the hydrogen needed by the gastrointestinal tract can adjust the quantity of beneficial gut bacteria, thereby improving health by enhancing the gut microbiota.Meanwhile, scientists have unexpectedly discovered in disease research that many disease states, nutritional deficiencies, and metabolic disorders can cause oxidative stress, ultimately leading to hydrogen deficiency in the human body. This inversely highlights the crucial importance of hydrogen-oxygen for human health.[2]

Hydrogen-Oxygen and Regenerative Medicine

A scientific team published a research paper in the journal Inflammation and Regeneration on hydrogen promoting wound healing. The results showed that hydrogen can activate various autologous tissue cells during the wound repair process, promote the production of multiple autologous collagens, induce a new wound healing pattern, and accelerate wound healing, indicating that hydrogen-oxygen may play a significant role in regenerative medicine.

Human wound healing involves four main processes:hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling, which typically result in scarring.Failure at any of these stages can lead to acute or chronic wound healing impairment.During the wound healing process, hydrogen promotes the early deposition of various collagens, facilitating rapid re-epithelialization.When inflammatory reactions delay healing, hydrogen’s anti-inflammatory effects come into play, successfully suppressing the expression of key pro-inflammatory factors such as TNF-αand IL-1β.In the crucial moist wound healing phase, hydrogen can induce a moist wound environment, inhibit scab formation, enhance epidermal cell migration rates, and accelerate epithelialization. At the wound edges, hydrogen significantly promotes re-epithelialization,rapid fibroblast migration, and early proliferation of EpSCs.

The above research may explain why hydrogen-oxygen inhalation users(primarily from real-world cancer investigation cohorts)consistently report skin whitening and restoration of a delicate complexion. The reparative effects of hydrogen-oxygen on the human body operate simultaneously in visible skin and invisible organs and tissues, protecting organs from damage and providing another pathway to extend lifespan.[3]

Hydrogen-Oxygen and Telomeres

In a European study, scientists discovered for the first time that hydrogen molecule intake in elderly individuals can extend telomere length.Telomeres are referred to by many scholars as the"timers"of cellular life;they shorten with each cell division. When telomeres shorten to a certain limit(after approximately 50 cell divisions),cells stop growing and undergo apoptosis. This provides a strong explanation for the mystery of human aging.

In the experiment investigating the effect of hydrogen molecules on telomere length, scientists conducted a group study on 40 elderly individuals with an average age of about 75.The results showed that the telomere length of the elderly who ingested hydrogen increased from a baseline of 0.99±0.15 to 1.02±0.26 at follow-up,while the telomere length of the elderly who did not actively ingest hydrogen decreased from 0.92±0.27 to 0.79±0.15.If comparing the two groups after June, the hydrogen group showed an extension of over 25%compared to the control group![4]

This experiment directly elevates the study of hydrogen's effects on human aging to the microscopic level of chromosomes and DNA,with sufficiently astonishing results:although the mechanism of hydrogen's effect on telomeres is not yet fully understood, the logic of hydrogen combating aging through telomeres is now coherent.

Hydrogen-Oxygen vs.Lethal Factors

As shown above,hydrogen-oxygen has the potential to repair cells, regulate the gastrointestinal tract, and restore organs. It can improve aging-related characteristics(such as wrinkles)in intervention trials, while also reducing inflammatory responses. These effects may help intervene in programmed cell death, improve energy metabolism, and thereby enhance human physiological processes, delaying aging.Reports indicate that Japanese centenarians have higher levels of endogenous hydrogen, suggesting that high levels of hydrogen production in the human intestine are associated with greater longevity.

The endpoint of human aging is death, with 93%of deaths caused by cardiovascular diseases and tumor diseases. In real-world studies on hydrogen-oxygen therapy for cancer control,we have found cases where hydrogen-oxygen intervention altered the life expectancy of various cancer patients. In postoperative recovery from major diseases, combating radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and vascular diseases,hydrogen-oxygen therapy exerts anti-inflammatory,antioxidant,and anti-apoptotic effects, helping the body inhibit disease progression and even reverse the course of illness.[5]

Meanwhile, the application of hydrogen-oxygen inhalation in areas such as depression and childhood autism has opened a new window for scientists. We know that human emotions have a significant impact on health.Excessive anxiety and depression are major drivers of illness. The improvement of emotions such as depression and the regulatory effect on sleep brought by hydrogen-oxygen are being increasingly recognized by more and more people.[5]

Final Thoughts

Water makes up 50%of the human body, and a completely dehydrated person cannot survive for even a second. If we view the decades of human life as a small-scale water cycle, then the process of hydrogen-oxygen medicine—"from water to hydrogen-oxygen and back to water"—might just be the answer humanity has been seeking for thousands of years!

Twelve years of hydrogen-oxygen medical development reveal new possibilities for humanity—The mystery of life's endpoint may lie in what scientists call the"source of life."
