World Autism Awareness Day: Melt Loneliness with Love—Standing with the “Children of the Stars”

They can see,

but may avoid eye contact.

They can speak,

but may find communication difficult.

They can hear,

but may not respond in expected ways.

...

They are like

stars in the night sky—

each in their own world, shining in their own way.

They are often called“children of the stars.”

In reality, they are children with autism.

April 2,2025

marks the 18th World Autism Awareness Day.

This year’s theme:

“Putting Care and Support into Action and Promoting the Full Development of the Autism Community.”

On this special day,

let us light the way forward with love,

understanding,and inclusion.

01
Understanding Autism

Autism, also known as autism spectrum disorder(ASD),is a severe developmental disorder that typically appears in early childhood. Most children show signs before the age of three. The core challenge of autism lies in social interaction—children with ASD often struggle to form typical relationships through language, facial expressions,or gestures.

According to the World Health Organization, about 1 in 100 children worldwide is affected by autism. In China, surveys estimate a prevalence of 0.7%,making autism the leading cause of childhood developmental disability in the country.

Currently, there are no effective medications to treat autism in children. The main approach to care is rehabilitation and behavioral therapy, with the best outcomes seen when treatment begins before age six.Early detection, diagnosis, and intervention can significantly improve symptoms and developmental outcomes.

Hydrogen-Oxygen vs Autism

The causes of autism are complex. No single factor explains the condition, but it is generally believed to involve a combination of genetic, neurological, and environmental factors.Research also suggests links between oxidative stress, inflammatory cytokines, and neurological dysfunction.

In recent years,hydrogen-oxygen inhalation has emerged as a novel approach in autism care.Multiple research teams are exploring its potential therapeutic effects and its role in supporting symptom improvement for children with autism.

Research suggests that inhaled hydrogen may have protective effects on tissues and cells by reducing harmful hydroxyl radicals. Moreover, hydrogen easily crosses the blood-brain barrier and cell membranes, providing a non-toxic antioxidant effect. This property makes it a promising approach for supporting the treatment of autism.
